The 18 hole Championship links course measuring 6864 yards, par 71 was designed by Gary Player. There is also a 9 hole par 3 challenge course here. The golf course adjoins the highly recommended La Residence des Cascades hotel and is a lovely venue by the sea. This feels like an extremely healthy place to be with the famous resort of Safaga nearby for health treatments. On the course you immediately benefit from the excellent climate with the clear blue skies, clean sea breezes and wonderful mountain backdrop scenery. The course has some beautiful holes alongside the sea. It is busy but in very good condition for an extremely enjoyable golf experience. July 2006 sees the Red Sea Pan Arab Open Amateur Championship hosted at The Cascades golf course. Soma Bay makes for a more adult vacation destination. This is an exclusive tourist site of just a few hotels including La Residence des Cascades, Hyatt, Sheraton and Robinson hotels. La Residence has a purpose built, very large and impressive Spa and Thalasso Centre "Les Thermes Marins des Cascades". The centre is on two levels with beautiful new treatment rooms. At the enormous specialist thalasso pool wing there are unique pools and water jets to massage you from your shoulders to your ankles as you follow a course through the pools with varying strength water currents. In the centre you will also find all the latest water treatments as well as massage, sauna etc available. A fantastic way to end a hard days golf.
